Okay so, at the beginning of the semester the idea of making a Linkedin was horrifying, embarrassing. Same with writing these stupid blogs... BUT, now I love it! I look forward to the things I'll learn and the gags I'll read in my peers blogs too (Alex Carey I'm talking to you yes keep up the great bants thank you).
Anyway, what I'm getting at is that I have grown, I have evolved. The old Grace is not dead, she's just in the past and I'm now Grace beta 2.0 or Grace XR Plus

Sorry that wasn't even funny like at all.
This week we had the pleasure of watching talks by Mark Ritson and I really enjoyed these talks, not just because at the end of his talk with one of our tutors he said 'Class over now go and get drunk'

and because he swears almost as much as me... No, I just genuinely agreed with his opinions on modern day marketing and the way everyone dramatics the 'death' of everything. It's true, everything in life evolves and grows- take Kylie Jenner's face for example, or mine (Thank Jesus for my injector).
Moreover, he also spoke about this attitude that marketers have about traditional education and training, some people actually think it makes them look good that they have a career in marketing and no formal training. Wow, no. While I agree that life skills and intuition are a crucial part of marketing, the textbook marketing is even more important! I actually just got my first job at a marketing agency (Yes that's right, i managed to score a job somehow through corona) and I use everything that I've learnt in not only this course but my degree (except for business statistics and business computing UGH GROSS).
It's a crucial part of Marketing to not only have opinions on what the best strategy or plan is, but to be able to back up these opinions with relevant theory and market research.
I guess what I'm trying to get at is that over the course of this semester I have grown and I have learnt a lot- I have evolved, like modern day marketing. The old immature grace that told everyone 'Ugh uni is so annoying I'm literally paying $50k for this stupid piece of paper' is not dead, but she's grown and evolved into 'Ugh I'm in debt from uni but I cannot wait to further my career with the many useful skills and knowledge I've obtained from uni'.

I should really brush up on my photoshop skills tbh
Thank you all once again for reading to this point somehow, as always a few questions to finish with
How have you evolved this semester?
Do you agree that these 'untrained marketers' are idiots and are affecting the industry? or do you think life skills and going straight into the workforce is enough?
What's the first club/bar/ restaurant you'll go to once Covid restrictions ease up? will I see you at Nobu June 1st?
What's been your favourite part of this class?
Which one of Torgeir's hats is your favourite?
Now, I have a linkedin profile to make now xoxo
Grace
Yes you should 'brush' up your photoshop skills and everyone should, being able to use photoshop is sick! Hopefully when lockdown is over I can initially go to the public bar and have a couple of Robert Downey Schooners at Mount Frothyosko like in the good old days, paint the town red, dance all night and not go to bed. Torgeir's cow hat definitely takes the cake, there should be an extra fee in the uni fees to pay for more funky hats across all of RMIT... (that was a joke if anyone is reading this from RMIT please do not think you are funny and increase the fees at RMIT they are enough as it is! Thanks!) This class…
